traveling makes sense.

(i'm listening to zero 7 - in the waiting line while i write this...in case you want to join me)
we weren't meant to stay in one place and do the same things over and over and over and over...you get the point.
on a very small scale - i like to take different routes home from work or errands (to spice things up).
on a much larger scale - i like to travel.

i'm going to try and paint a picture for you:
smell: salt, fried food, marijuana so strong you can almost taste it, a contrasting mix of fresh sea air and too many bodies in one space
sight: skateboarders, models being shot in teenie weenie bikinis, bikers, artists, peddlers, retirees and trophy wives walking their dogs and strolling their children, musicians looking for some affirmation in the form of spare change, crazy people talking to either themselves or their schizophrenic selves, homeless people resting from their exhausting nights of trying to survive, shops opening up for tourist visits and the beautiful ocean with its relentless spirit doing what it does best
sound: cars working their way in and out of traffic, construction workers doing whatever they do to build and fix things, people talking, people harassing, skateboards rolling, and the sweet, sweet ocean breathing it's waves into the shore

all of these things equal one small impact on God's creation. humanity has done it's best to make it dirty and wasteful, but we have nothing on creation. we have nothing on God's purpose for this space in the world. the ocean and the sand and the hills dominate this space and make for a serene spot in the midst of chaos and confusion.
it's beauty among the ashes and that speaks so perfectly to what God does with us.
i'm so thankful for travel and for the experiences that it brings to my life.
