Peter denying Christ: John 21:1-19

What will Jesus say when we meet Him and we know we've messed up?
What do we do while we wait? We usually do what's comfortable/secure/what we do well to take up time, try to justify our actions in our minds.
The first thing Jesus says to Peter is, "Let's eat together". He meets our most basic needs.
Peter feels guilt, impatience, disobedience. He did something he said he'd never do. He denied Jesus.
Jesus serves Him.
Jesus finally asks, "Do you love me more than these".
Peter's answer, "Lord, you know that I love you."
Jesus, "Feed my sheep."
Is He finished with us when we mess up?
No. By His grace - we are restored.
Use the gifts you've been given. Be obedient.

Question: What's something you said you'd never do...but, you have been doing? What is on your heart. How are you not being obedient?

Peter gains his courage back and steps out of the boat to be with Jesus.
He was hoping by His grace - he could be restored.
It was a struggle.
Jesus walked him through a painful process of being brought back to the church.
The Holy Spirit empowered Peter and he went on to bring hundreds of people to the Lord.
Grace makes our witness possible.
Yes, we are guilty - but, there's grace.
Take your burdens and lay them at the feet of Jesus.
Except grace. Except restoration.
He'll disciple you. It might be painful, but He will walk every step of the way with you.
